Clinician Co-Design Workshops- ExpHand Prosthetics - QMC

About This Workshop

This project is part of the Rehab HRC's funded projects and the workshop will look at how we can design and develop ExpHand, a 3D-printed upper limb prosthesis for children with below-elbow limb differences. The focus is on making sure it is practical, easy to use in real clinical settings, and genuinely helpful in supporting children’s independence in everyday life.

ExpHand is a mechanical prosthesis operated through elbow movement, allowing full finger movement so users can pick up and grasp objects. It is custom-made using simple limb measurements taken at home or in clinic, and can be adjusted in both length and width so it can grow with the child. It is also designed so fitting can often be completed in a single appointment. 100.jpeg

We would like to hear from:

  • clinicians and healthcare professionals involved in rehabilitation
  • Prosthetics
  • Orthotics
  • Paediatric
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physiotherapistshotists and
  • anyone working with children and young people with limb differences.
  • anyone supporting patients who might benefit from prosthetics or other assistive devices.

We are running 4 drop-in sessions across 2 sites to make it easier for clinicians to attend:

City Hospital – Tuesday 11 August 2026

  • Session 1: 10:00 – 12:30
  • Session 2: 13:00 – 15:30

Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) – Thursday 13 August 2026

  • Session 3: 10:00 – 12:30
  • Session 4: 13:00 – 15:30
