A delegation from China visited RehabHRC.
A delegation from China, including senior researchers from Peking University and representatives from the China Architecture Design and Research Group, visited our Rehabilitation HRC to learn more about our leading-edge work to help patients recover faster and more fully, using the latest technology.
The nine-strong delegation from China met HRC colleagues for presentations and networking sessions at the Jubilee Campus at the University of Nottingham.
Our HRC, based at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, is one of just 14 HRCs funded by the National Institute for Health and Social Care Research (NIHR).
The visiting party included three delegates from Peking University including Professor Shang Shaomei, Dean & Professor at School of Nursing, and Professor Wang Zhiwen, Director of Evidence-Based Nursing Centre.
Dr Vicky Booth, Co-Director of RehabHRC: "Welcoming our Chinese colleagues was a real privilege. Their visit sparked meaningful dialogue and offered a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas in rehabilitation research and innovation."
Established in 1898, Peking University (PKU) is one of China’s most prestigious and historic institutions of higher education.
The university comprises multiple faculties and schools, including the Peking University Health Science Centre (PUHSC) - its medical school, which was formerly Beijing Medical University before their merger in 2000.
Within PUHSC, the Peking University School of Nursing is one of the core schools with faculty members and approximately 830 students across five departments, offering diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes. Its research focuses on community and clinical care, elderly and mental health, and nursing education, supported by international collaborations and major foundations.
The remaining six delegates were from various academic institutions under the China Architecture Design and Research Group (CADG).
These included delegates from the Institute of Liveable Environments for the Elderly and Children, the Lab of Age-friendly Architecture Science and Technology, and the China Architecture Design and Research Group Housing Laboratory.
Prof. Hua Zhong, an Associate Professor in Sustainable Built Environment at the College of Technology and Environment, London South Bank University, accompanied the Chinese delegates during their visit during July, too.
