Industry involvement in co-creation is crucial.

The rehabilitation device sector largely consists of SMEs that each supply a limited range of highly specialised products. Such businesses usually do not have the onboard expertise and capacity for activities such as engaging with patient and clinical stake holders, developing new design and manufacturing processes, regulation, and adoption by the NHS. This theme aims to inspire and facilitate these activities through tailored networking and consultancy.

As well as supporting the growth of companies already working in rehabilitation technologies, we’re developing the large pool of smaller companies addressing rehabilitation technologies using our partnerships with Medilink Midlands, BioCity (We are Pioneer Group), HIEM, the ABHI and the 200+ industry partners associated with the NIHR Nottingham BRC.

We do this through:

  • Industry oversight groups - to share insights and develop programmes of action
  • Advisory groups - harnessing the expertise in a specific sector/discipline
  • Industry Forums - larger-scale discussions on topical issues
  • Industry focus groups - quantitative analysis and input
  • Industry workshops - action planning
  • Industry networking events - informal opportunities to build relationships

Our industrial partners include Cardinal Health, Vygon, Baxter, GE, Drager, Bad Dinosaur, and Fisher Paykel, UCB, Baxter, Pharmaco, Helite, Tunstall, Robotics for Good, Imagebiopsy, and Nanox AI.
